Reached by boat on Guatemala’s Caribbean coast, the El Faro campus is designed for mission teams, camps, retreats, training, worship, and unhurried connection.
The final approach to El Faro is by boat. As the campus comes into view from the water, the 330-foot dock reaches from the property toward the coast, creating a memorable threshold between travel and arrival.
The campus is both a home base for ministry and a place of welcome. Mission teams, churches, retreats, conferences, volunteers, staff, and community partners share the property throughout the year.
El Faro sits on 46.6 acres—27 manzanas—of tropical jungle on Guatemala’s Caribbean coast. The grounds combine lodging, meeting spaces, dining areas, ministry facilities, recreation, shoreline, and nature.
The setting can feel remote, but the campus is designed for active use. Paths, boats, kitchens, rooms, gathering areas, and staff operations make it possible to host groups while supporting programs across the region.
Eleven private guest rooms provide 65 beds with air conditioning, private bathrooms, and hot water. Six additional cabins or ranches provide 192 beds for camps and larger group configurations.
Room assignments depend on group size, availability, age mix, and the purpose of the gathering. Teams should share accessibility, family, and rooming needs during planning rather than assuming a specific building.
Meals are prepared by El Faro’s kitchen and hospitality team. Groups gather in an open-air pavilion, and a large event tent can accommodate approximately 250 to 300 people.
Shared meals are central to campus life. They bring together participants, staff, missionaries, and leaders at natural moments throughout the day and create space for conversation that a formal program cannot always provide.
The Medina Ranch can host approximately 230 people, the chapel seats about 70, and the Educational Center accommodates roughly 40. These spaces support worship, training, team meetings, conferences, classes, and smaller-group conversation.
El Faro does not provide audio/visual equipment. Groups should discuss room setup and bring the equipment required for their own program.
The property includes a soccer field, basketball and volleyball court, a two-kilometer nature trail with a suspension bridge, the Mil Manos private beach, and tropical grounds for rest and exploration.
Recreation helps teams recover after service, gives retreats room for shared activity, and allows visitors to experience the natural character of the Caribbean coast without leaving the campus.
El Faro is not simply a hotel or event venue. Revenue, facilities, staff time, and hospitality support a wider Christian mission serving communities throughout Izabal.
Groups are asked to respect the rhythms of a working ministry campus, care for the property, follow staff guidance, and understand that they may share the space with programs or teams serving a different purpose.
