Guatemala Community Programs & El Faro Ministries

Our five ministry areas work together. A medical clinic can reveal a nutrition need. A home project can deepen a church partnership. A visiting team can become a long-term advocate.

Five areas, one mission

El Faro’s ministries are organized into five connected areas: health and medical care, children and youth development, community development, education and leadership, and hospitality and missions.

These areas are intentionally connected. A health clinic may identify a child who needs nutrition support. A construction project may begin through a trusted church relationship. A retreat or mission team may provide skills and resources that strengthen work already led locally.

Health and medical care

Mobile medical clinics, accessible dental care, eye surgery missions, and the Mother’s House reduce barriers created by cost, distance, and limited local infrastructure.

Clinic days combine registration, triage, consultation, medication, prayer, and local coordination. Specialized teams extend that care through dentistry and eye procedures that can restore comfort, health, independence, and sight.

Children and youth development

El Faro invests in the whole child through nutrition, Bible teaching, recreation, learning, and safe community. Programs include Chispuditos, Exploradores Kids Bible Club, Vacation Bible School, a soccer academy, English classes, and a community library.

Each program creates a different point of connection with children and families while supporting health, belonging, faith, confidence, and opportunity.

Community development

Community projects respond to practical priorities identified through local relationships. El Faro helps build homes, replace dirt floors with concrete, install eco-stoves, distribute food, purify water, improve schools, and respond during emergencies.

The purpose is not simply to complete construction. It is to improve health, safety, dignity, and daily life while working alongside the people who will live with the result.

Education and leadership

El Faro Academy gives adults an accelerated path from elementary education through high school. Scholarships and Sunday classes help make continued learning possible for people balancing work and family responsibilities.

Leadership conferences and workshops serve pastors, churches, businesses, organizations, and community leaders with practical teaching on servant leadership, gratitude, generosity, and social responsibility.

Hospitality and missions

The coastal campus supports every other ministry by welcoming mission teams, churches, retreats, conferences, training events, and families. Lodging, meals, meeting spaces, recreation, and transportation allow groups to focus on service, learning, worship, and relationship.

Hospitality is part of El Faro’s ministry identity. Shared tables, thoughtful preparation, and a welcoming environment help turn a visit into a partnership.
